Support Volunteer

Do you want to serve the community, but do not wish to be an EMT or perform firefighting duties?  We have a place for you!  In addition to emergency medical technicians and firefighters, Red Lodge Fire Rescue relies upon support personnel for assorted duties, including but not limited to:

· Assisting command staff in the command post.

· Shuttling equipment and personnel during incidents.

· Assisting with rehab of firefighters during incidents.

· Answering telephones and assisting in the station during large incidents.

· Other duties that may arise.

While not directly involved in firefighting or treating patients, these support positions are no less important than that of a firefighter or EMT, and are essential during large-scale incidents.  Having support personnel available frees up firefighters and EMT’s to perform their specific duties.

Oftentimes, support personnel would gather at the station during an incident and await assignment, which could be a variety of duties.  No emergency service experience is required, and training is minimal, making these positions ideal for those who don’t wish to or are unable to fulfill the duties of a firefighter or EMT, or don’t have the time to commit to the monthly training required of those positions.

If you want to give to the community and serve a noble cause, but are unsure if you would like being a firefighter or EMT, this could be the position for you!
